Lead and Lag Indicators are terms used to indicate the relationship between the activities necessary to achieve desired results.

When I worked with David Moore’s company we were able to increase the 2009 sales over the 2008 sales by 53.3% by focusing on the lead indicators.

In this video you can listen to David tell his story. As he says, it was not always the fun thing to do, but it really paid off for everyone involved.

Interested in learning more? I found this blog post from a consultant in England to be very interesting and informative about the many ways lead and lag indicators are used in business. http://ianjseath.wordpress.com/2009/08/26/lead-vs-lag-indicators/
